Ruslan Kutumbaev, the engineer behind Quillcite

Ruslan Kutumbaev is an engineer and AI-search visibility (GEO) practitioner who helps technical SaaS get cited in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.

Quillcite is a GEO practice by Ruslan Kutumbaev. One engineer. No agency behind the logo, no account manager standing between you and the person running the checks. The clients are dev-tools and technical SaaS between Seed and Series B, and the job is deliberately narrow: get the product named and cited inside AI answers, not ranked somewhere the buyer never scrolls to.

I got here from engineering, not marketing. Years of building and shipping software, which is why the technical half of this work reads like ordinary engineering to me. Then the buyer moved: a G2 survey in March 2026 (n=1,076) found 51% of B2B software buyers now start research in an AI chatbot, up from 29%. Ranking third for a keyword stopped meaning anyone reads you. So I narrowed to one problem — being the source the model quotes — and ran the first check on my own site. It failed. I published the numbers anyway.

Why trust one engineer over an agency?

I run the scans myself

In July 2026 I checked 72 SaaS domains by hand. writer.com's WAF answers 403 to GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot while its robots.txt allows all three — only OAI-SearchBot gets through, which is what a half-finished whitelist looks like. beehiiv.com returns 429 to ChatGPT-User, the fetcher that fires when a reader asks ChatGPT to open a page mid-conversation. Both take one curl to confirm.

This site is the test bed

Nothing here is a method I read about. Crawler access, schema with stable @ids, pages rebuilt so a model can lift the answer whole — all of it shipped on quillcite.com before it went on an invoice. The free AI access check is that same scan, trimmed: four crawlers and one page, instead of seven crawlers and your whole site.

No client case studies yet

None. I won't borrow someone else's logo wall either. The first 3audits are free and the price is a published before/after with the client's name on it, zeros included — that is exactly what the founding offer is buying.

What do I actually do for clients?

  1. Access.Every AI crawler tested against your live pages through the CDN, not read off robots.txt — plus your Bing index, because 87% of ChatGPT's citations match Bing's top organic results (Seer Interactive, February 2025).
  2. Entity. One brand name, one author, one set of profile links, wired together with stable schema @ids so the engines stop reading you as three loosely related companies.
  3. Extraction. High-intent pages rewritten to answer in the first two sentences, in server-rendered HTML, since most AI crawlers never run your JavaScript.
  4. Authority.Pillar-and-cluster depth on your own site, plus the third-party pages engines reach for first. Semrush's citation research says it plainly: models quote independent pages about you before they quote your own marketing copy.
  5. Freshness & measurement.Updating what already ranks beats publishing more: 75% of LLM-cited pages were updated in the last year, only 42% were first published in it (Seer Interactive, July 2026). Then a fixed prompt panel, re-run and logged, so "are we being cited" has a number instead of a feeling.

What I won't do: buy links, run a content mill, or bill you monthly to watch a dashboard. The whole method, gate by gate, is written up in the GEO pillar guide — free, and detailed enough to run yourself if you'd rather not hire anyone.

Frequently asked questions

Who is Ruslan Kutumbaev?
Ruslan Kutumbaev is an engineer and AI-search visibility (GEO) practitioner who helps dev-tools and technical SaaS get cited in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. He runs Quillcite as a one-person practice and tests every method on his own site before charging anyone for it.
What is Quillcite?
Quillcite is a GEO practice by Ruslan Kutumbaev — one engineer, not an agency. It gets dev-tools and technical SaaS cited as sources inside AI answers instead of only ranked in search, through three deliverables: an AI-access check, a citation scan across buying-intent prompts, and a prioritized fix list.
Is GEO the same as SEO?
GEO is a subset of SEO rather than a replacement for it. Google's own Search Central guidance, updated July 10, 2026, says optimizing for generative AI search is still SEO, and Danny Sullivan has said the same in public. What differs is the target: SEO wants a position in a list of links, GEO wants to be the source the answer quotes and links. The plumbing underneath — crawlability, structured data, authority — is shared.
How can I work with Ruslan Kutumbaev?
One offer, one fixed fee: a GEO audit for dev-tools and technical SaaS from $1,500 — AI-access check, citation scan, prioritized fix list — then done-with-you implementation. 3 founding audits are still free in exchange for a published case study. Prefer to start on your own? Run the free AI access check at quillcite.com/check, or email contact@quillcite.com with your site URL.
